Assigned to a vicious homicide case, Ethan Parker can’t believe what he’s seeing. A man has been brutally murdered for reasons no one can understand. The fact that the victim has been tortured and castrated leave him and the rest of the force wondering if it could be a case of love gone wrong. Yet Ethan knows there’s more to the story and is determined in discovering the identity of the perpetrator and the reason behind the gory murder.
His partner, a rookie cop by the name of Grant Montgomery is still wet behind the ears. He doesn’t seem to take the case too seriously, but that’s because he’s not exactly sure as to what he should be doing. Ethan knows he has train the guy to his full potential, but the new case leaves him wondering as to what to do next.
When it becomes apparent that his partner’s sister is linked to the deceased, Ethan realizes that the murder may not be a run of the mill one. He wonders if the person behind the attack could somehow be associated with the brutal attack Abby suffered seven years ago, yet he knows that can’t be a possibility. Michael Greene is behind bars at the time the murders take place and is therefore exonerated.
Delving into the circumstances surrounding the mysterious death, it’s soon becomes apparent that someone’s targeting people Abby knows, specifically her male friends. The reason behind such a thing is unfathomable, yet Ethan knows he must do his best to protect Abby at all costs. She’s the only link tying her to each of the murders and no one knows who will be next.
Growing closer to Abby in his quest to discover who’s behind the grisly murders, Ethan realizes he should come clean about the skeletons in his own closet. Yet part of him doesn’t want to risk the new-found love he now has with Abby. When the secrets of his past rise up to haunt him, Ethan knows it’s a matter of time before everything comes to light. His only hopes lies in solving the crime before someone else becomes another victim. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.
I found myself immersed in this story from the moment, I began reading. So much so, I didn’t stop turning the page until I got to the very end. It’s that intriguing. I think the author did a wonderful job in setting the stage for the story. The twists and turns leave the reader wanting to know what happens next. Granted, a few of those curves were definitely unexpected, but the made the story much more intense. Definitely a great read!
Seven years ago, Abby Montgomery survived a brutal attack. Now she is ready to put her pain in the past and move on with her life. The problem is, one by one the men in her life are being viciously murdered.
The detective assigned to the case, Ethan Parker, has demons of his own to hide. As the danger gets closer to Abby, so does Ethan. But can they get past his secrets before the killer gets to them? Sometimes the sins of the mind are more depraved than the sins of the heart.

About Debbie Gould:
Born in Wichita Falls, Texas, at the age of two Debbie and her mother moved to New Jersey, spending many happy years on her grandparents’ horse farm. You’ll sometimes find this setting as a backdrop in her work.
