Review: Stolen – Catherine Stovall
Jenda has lived a sheltered life. Her parents have done everything they can to protect her to the best of their ability. She’s grateful for their support, and would do anything to please them. They’re her rock when she needs them to be, but not even that knowledge will mar the fact that only one other person holds her trust in more ways than one.
Soborgne has been her best friend for years. She knows all of Jenda’s secrets, just as she knows all of Soborgne’s. The girls have been inseparable, and know each others lives intimately. There’s nothing they wouldn’t do for one another.
When Soborgne turns up missing one day, Jenda’s life is tossed into a profound limbo. Despite the evidence that mounts up, and points to her best friend’s death, she does her best to hold out hope. Within the deepest reaches of her mind, she tells herself that she’s alive somehow, even if that’s just wishful thinking.
The fact that she can’t let go of the past has her parents concerned at every turn. They know she’s nursing the hurt of such a great loss, and have done everything possible to pull her out of the depression she finds herself in. Yet she knows that nothing will replace the meaning Soborgne left behind within her own life.
Lost in the throes of her pain, Jenda’s life is further turned upside-down when an unexpected visitor kidnaps her one night. Although Matteo is gentle, he refuses to tell her as to why he’s taken her away. She knows there’s something she’s not quite seeing, but her mind refuses to accept the events that have led her to where she is now.
She wants desperately to hold on to the small flicker of hope running rampant within her, but that’s easier said than done. Appearances are deceiving, and Jenda soon comes to the realization that her fate lies within the hands of several vampires. They have plans for her, plans that will change the world as she knows it.
Somehow, some way, she will find her freedom. Soborgne is out there somewhere. She’s sure of it. She knows she’ll need to find a means of escape if she’s to survive whatever torture the vampires intend to cook up. Deep inside she knows, Matteo is her sole means of seeking a reprieve from a nightmare that doesn’t seem to end. Soon, his kindness tugs upon her heartstrings, something she knows she should not allow, leaving her immersed in a turmoil with no end in sight.
This was a great introduction to what appears to be a very good series. I was glued to every page. Seriously, I had a hard time putting this book down. I think Catherine has crafted a very intriguing world, one that captures the reader’s attention from the moment they open up the book. There are quite a few graphic scenes, and numerous twists and turns. A suspenseful and very thrilling ride, Stolen is definitely a book worth reading time and again.

Synopsis:
Jenda and Soborgne are best friends and everything they do, they do together. Unfortunately, this time the girls may be joined at the hip in a far more horrible way: by death.
The girls are kidnapped and held captive by Belle and Matteo, two vampires with a plan. Belle, a sociopath in life and death, is searching for an heir to her reign as the only vampire to hold the secret to surviving the sun. Matteo is a lost soul who would give anything to be loved and to see the light of day.
As the four characters’ worlds collide, blood is spilled, lives are lost, and rules are broken. Disappointment in love and life bring out the worst in humans but, with vampires, it leads to a chilling tale of romance and terror.
