Sam and Drake have escaped from the Rent-A-Kid facility, but it wasn’t without consequence. Lives have been lost in the midst of their escape and the higher up’s of the company aren’t happy because of their betrayal. The pair is Rent-A-Kid’s most valuable assets and they’ll do anything to thwart their plans at every turn. Yet no one within the company ever counted on Sam and Drake’s resourcefulness.

They’ve succeeded to elude capture and are intent on protecting the child they share between them. The unexpected pregnancy forced upon Sam has changed everything, but she’s determined to keep her child out of harm’s way. She knows that the Seeker and Rent-A-Kid will do everything possible to have her, Drake, and the baby within their hands, at all costs, and that’s a luxury she’ll make sure that the company can do without.

Remaining one step ahead of Rent-A-Kid, Sam and Drake try to make sense of everything that’s happened ever since they escaped. Those remaining at the facility are feeling the brunt of their elusion, a circumstance Sam wishes she could change. Unfortunately, she knows there’s nothing she can do aside from surviving.

FF BCMeanwhile, back at the facility, Lucy and Luke are dealing with troubles of their own. Their lives have been turned topsy-turvy and they are now on lockdown. Everyone’s movements are closely monitored and those rebelling are dealt with in the strictest form possible. While all means of escape are limited, Lucy knows that such a thing is definitely obtainable. They just have to figure out the safest way possible in getting out without any further casualties occurring along the way. Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done.

This was such a wonderful sequel to the Forbidden trilogy. It’s a delight in finding out what happens next to Sam, Drake, and the twins. Kimberly has captured their triumphs and losses, their unique emotions, and the situations they’re involved in beautifully. I truly enjoyed every minute of the story and can’t wait to read what happens next. Intriguing and heart-wrenching, Forbidden Fire is a story that will capture your attention and keep it glued to every page.

Synopsis:

“She escaped, but she’ll never be free.”

“Time held no meaning as my mind darted in and out of memories. Past and present collided to create a full-sensory collage out of my life: playing hide-n-seek with my best friends Luke–who always cheated by walking through walls when he was about to be caught–and Lucy; Mr. Caldrin critiquing my sketches and offering ideas to make them more realistic; targets changing faces, blending into the same person, their thoughts rippling through my mind like waves. Through it all, a demon stalked me from the shadows of my memories, never quite showing its face, but crouching, waiting.

And then I dreamed…”

Sam and Drake may have escaped, but they aren’t free—not with a powerful Seeker after them. As Sam struggles with the ethics of her new powers and embraces a blossoming physical relationship with Drake, Lucy and Luke face challenges of their own.

With forces coalescing inside and outside the Rent-A-Kid dorms, it’s only a matter of time before the fire they started forces each of them to make choices they can’t undo. But will it be enough to save them?
