Bewitching Banner

Flight BC Allie has decided to accept her father’s offer of working at the hotel he’s newly acquired for the summer. She’s a little afraid, yet excited at the prospect. A new place, new friends – it’s definitely a big adventure, one she knows she’ll make the most of. The best part of it all is the fact that her best friend, Jess, gets to join her for the summer. Things can’t get any better than that, or so she thinks.

When she sets eyes on a guy en route to her new rooms, Allie doesn’t think much of it. She’s sworn off of boys, for the time being, yet she can’t deny that the guy is very good-looking. Never-the-less, she vows to spend as much time as she can with Jess in hopes of not having to think about her ex-boyfriend and everything that’s happened between them not too long ago.

When the mysterious guy turns up later that night, Allie isn’t sure what to make of it. Part of her is thrilled that he seems to have some sort of interest in her, while another part of her is hesitant in initiating something with another man. Levi decides to take matters into his own hands and does everything he can to woo her in his direction.

As she and Levi grow closer, she soon realizes that he’s different in every way. There’s something about him that she can’t quite put her finger on, something that draws her in and keeps her attention riveted on him at all times. When Jess decides to head back home after an unexplained night out, Allie finds herself relying on Levi in more ways than one. She knows she should keep him at arms length, but somehow finds herself unable to do just that.

Soon, Allie discovers just how different Levi and his friends really are. They are shape-shifters, something the world must never know about. Theirs is a supernatural society that keeps things in order. There are forces at work that aim to take Levi and company down. Allie has been targeted in hopes of their doing just that. Her only hope lies in Levi’s hands. The question is, will he be able to save her before his enemies make good on their demands?

This was a very intriguing story. It’s definitely enjoyable. I found Allie’s plight endearing, although the part where Jess decides to leave sort of felt stunted, as if there was something missing. I couldn’t quite put my finger on what that was, though. There were a few spots where the editing/punctuation does need to be tightened. Aside from that, this quick read is worth reading.
