Picking up where book one leaves off, we’re sent smack-dab into Justice’s current plight. She’s had to contend with so much in so short a time that she’s still smarting from the loss of her parents. In learning about her true origins, she’s presented with shocking revelations that she often has a hard time making sense of. Her saving grace, however, comes in the form of the Lord’s soothing touch and insightful sensibility. For He is, and always will be, the one who pulls her through the ensuing darkness when things take unexpected turns.
Linda branches further upon the religious themes found throughout the book and series. We’re presented with meaningful passages and prayers that further enhance the environments in which the characters find themselves. Interspersed throughout are the main themes of love, belief, faith, and survival. She’s further fleshed out a world where chaos often wants to reign supreme. A world where dark and light pull each other back and forth in the hopes of coming out on top no matter the cost.
Whether Justice reaches an end to her own means remains to be seen. She has a slew of decisions to make, many of which will test her mettle in more ways than one. I look forward to seeing where the journey takes her. After all, it is her faith that drives her at every turn. A faith that never goes wrong when you truly believe.
