Hi, Marissa. Thank you for allowing me to interview you. It’s quite an honor and we’re pleased to have you here on our blog.

Marissa: Thank you for having me here.

Would you take a moment and introduce yourself to us?

Hello everyone. *Waves* I’m the co-owner of Ruby Lioness Press, as well as an author and owner of Sizzling PR.

Can you tell us more about the Clearwater series?

The Clearwater series is a multi-author series at Ruby Lioness Press. Clearwater is a small fictional town in Teton County, Wyoming (a real county). Clearwater is a very small town, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of Jackson, with just fewer than 500 residents. You can find more information about the town and its residents by visiting our website:

What authors are involved in the endeavor?

There has been a number of authors asking for more information about the series and expressing interest in the series. At this time we have books from the following authors contracted and scheduled for release: Winterbloom by Marissa Dobson (releasing April 13). Finding Home by Lacey Wolfe (releasing May 11). A Cowboy to Keep by D’Ann Lindun, Bare Necessities by Lacey Wolfe, and On the Run by Melissa Kendall that are in the pipe line but release dates haven’t been set.

How did the idea for this series come about?

I’m not really sure where it came from. It just happened. I always enjoy setting my books in fictional towns, or using a place but adding some creative things to it, so coming up with a place for any author to write it was fun. I tried to leave it open so it won’t limit a person’s creative abilities or limit genres.

I knew there were other multi-author series out there with more details but I wanted this one to be able to grow with the authors.

Is there a lot of research involved for this series?

There was some research but since Clearwater is a fictional town it didn’t require a lot. I just wanted some basic information on the surrounding towns.

I see that the first book, Winterbloom, written by you, releases on the April 13, 2012 followed by Finding Home by Lacey Wolfe on May 11, 2012. What can readers expect for/from the series?

The series will be like any other series, each book will stand alone, but you will be able to see previous characters from other authors books as minor characters in others. You will be able to learn how things work out for characters you have already read about, as well as find new ones to fall in love with.

What genre does the series entail?

The Clearwater series is open to all genre’s, as long as it ties into the series and town. At this time we have a few different branches of romance already a part of the series. However I just spoke with an author who is interested in writing a mystery/suspense for the series.

How was the location for the series decided? Who came up with it?

I came up with the town name, Clearwater but I wasn’t really sure where I wanted to set it. After some consideration and running ideas past my husband I decided on Wyoming. My husband and I both have traveled to Wyoming and it is a beautiful place. A perfect place in my mind to set it.

What are you working on now?

Currently I am working on another book for the Clearwater series.

How do you find inspiration when writing your stories?

My husband. When I want to throw it all to the wind and give up he is there with an encouraging word, a hot cup of tea, or a stiff drink J

What are the submission requirements for the series?

The only real requirement is that you set it in Clearwater, and that you interact with other members of the community. Clearwater Series is open to any genre, any heat, and between 10,000 and 100,000 words.

MD PictureAbout The Author:

Born and raised in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania area, I now reside about an hour from Washington, D.C.I am a lady who likes to keep busy, and am always busy doing something. With two different college degrees, I believe you are never done learning.

Being the first daughter to an avid reader, this gave me the advantage of learning to read at a young age. Since learning to read I have always had my nose in a book. It wasn’t until I was a teenager that I started writing down the stories I came up with.

I am blessed with a wonderful supportive husband, Thomas. He is my other half and allows me to stay home and pursue my writing. My writing buddies Max (a cocker spaniel) and Dawne (a beagle mix) are always around to listen to me bounce ideas off them. They might not be able to answer, but they are helpful in their own ways.
