Jameson has been in love with Sarah ever since he can remember. Everything she needs help with, he’s always there to lend a hand. While friendship is something they share between, deep inside he’s hoped that some day soon he could make her girlfriend. Yet Fate has other ideas. Never once did he expect to lose her to another, most especially Eric.
Despite the disappointment, he’s determined to make the most of the situation. While making his way home one night, he meets the gorgeous, and elusive. Sky. She’s older, wiser, and she stirs his senses in a way that Sarah never has. Part of him wants to know the secrets she holds inside, to know what makes her who she is. Divulging little tidbits of wisdom every time they meet, Jameson finds himself drawn to Sky with every moment that passes. Everything about her intrigues him.
Caught between his feelings for Sarah and the newly developed ones for Sky, Jameson is unsure on how to proceed with both. He yearns to make Sarah see that he loves her while another part of him wants to keep Sky close by. The problems at home don’t help the situation either. His parents are now arguing constantly and he’s caught in the middle of it all. With changes occurring all around him, Jameson does his best to keep a level. Yet there’s something he can’t deny – no matter what happens, nothing will be the same ever again.
This was such an endearing and hearing-warming story. Jolene crafted a world where anyone of any age can relate to what’s going on between Jameson, Sarah, and Sky. Love and heartache is something everyone experiences at one point in life and I think she captured each emotion beautifully. I did note some minor punctuation/grammar that needed fixing while reading, but that didn’t detract from my enjoying the story. I look forward to reading more of Jolene’s work soon.
Girl I’ve loved, girl I’m falling for. Now that they’re both in view, the problem is clear.
After losing Sarah, the friend he’s loved, to some other guy, Jameson meets Sky. Her Native American roots, fluid movements, and need for brutal honesty become addictive fast. This is good. Jameson needs distraction – his dad leaves for another woman, his mom’s walking around like a zombie, and Sarah’s new boyfriend can’t keep his hands off of her.
As he spends time with Sky and learns about her village, her totems, and her friends with drums – she’s way more than distraction. Jameson’s falling for her fast.
But Sky’s need for honesty somehow doesn’t extend to her life story – and Jameson just may need more than his new girl to keep him distracted from the disaster of his senior year.
