Life as they’ve known it is over and they must start anew from scratch. Technology is non-existent, as is the abundance of food. Despite this, humanity is slowly learning to cope with the world as they now know it.

While most in the settlement he lives in are content to live their lives quietly, Charlinder can’t help but question the origins surrounding the plague. Sykosa is like any other teen girl, beautiful, intelligent, and determined to make the most of any situation. Yet she also has secrets. Secrets that, at times, threaten to engulf her. Secrets she detests in keeping. Part of her knows she has no choice in keeping them. Trouble would ensue if she does not, yet she finds it difficult sometimes to hold them close.

Her life hasn’t been that easy, even though people would like to think so. She’s had everything she’s ever wanted, yet her life, sometimes, feels lacking. Her best friend, Niko, is broken in more ways than one and she’s a part of the secrets Sykosa has tucked into the back of her mind. Often times, faith is something almost all of us have a hard time in having. Believing in something you can’t see is testing, most especially for those of us who have strayed from the Lord’s path. Believing in his goodness, in the fact that he’ll lead us along the righteous path, well, it can honestly be trying. The reason for this is because for some, the trials and tribulations they face along the way hard from them to place their trust in a being they’re really not sure exists.

For the Peaches, both young and old, their lives haven’t been that easy. The children lost their mother and grandmother at a very young age and have dealt with the consequences of their deaths ever since then. When their father falls ill, the children realize it’s another blow of disappointment they’ve been dealt with – a disappointment none of them wish to deal with just yet. Despite this, they’re determined to band together in hopes of helping their father through his ordeal. Read on »

Life has not been kind to Vernon Davidson. He lost his son at an early age and his wife not too long ago. His brother is ill and his nephews have kept away due to their self-imposed exiles for reasons no one truly knows about besides themselves. His disdain and anger at God and the injustices he’s feels have been committed against him grow by the day. So much so, that he’s begun to lash out at those around him in hopes of being able to make sense of the situations he finds himself in.

When Leonard takes a turn for the worst, Vernon is tasked with gathering his estranged children in the hopes that Leonard will get to see them one last time. Unable to refuse a dying man his wish, he sets out to accomplish the impossible. Making contact with one of Leonard’s sons, he asks Jody to come home and makes it clear that his father’s remaining time on Earth is limited. He also decrees that his father wishes to see his brother and sets the task of finding him within Jody’s hands. Read on »
