So, I Need An Opinion . . .
I’m thinking of offering the PDF version for free when Stuck releases next month. But I’m not sure if I should offer it on the same day of release or several days prior.
Also, I keep wondering if this is will be a savvy marketing move, of sorts. Would people still purchase the book, even with the PDF offered free, later on down the line?
I’ve never done this sort of thing before, really. I’m trying to set up events and what not that coincide with the release. I’ve already set up a book giveaway via Goodreads several weeks ago for Closure that coincides with Stuck’s release and will also be offering the ebook for free via SW starting on the 15th of August through the 30th of September.
I’m also working on the printed version of the story and hope to have it ready by the time next month rolls around. CS won’t allow me to print it yet, as the calendar on the site won’t cycle that far, so all I have atm are book proofs. Would a giveaway, citing that the arc’s are book proofs, of course, be plausible/something that people would go for?
I’m also curious as to what I need to do in regards to having an online release party. Any, and all, feedback/suggestions/ideas would be appreciated.

I’d say offer it for $0.99 and then run a free special. Or, you could offer it for free when people purchase “Closure”. Giving away a couple of printed ARCs is a good idea. Maybe try running a contest for those? As to the online release party, I’m not entirely sure how to do those. Set up an event and tell people to tweet about the book to win a copy? Oh and you could try setting up a blog tour. Just some ideas. Hope they help!

One of my hopes is that my books would go on pirate channels for hundreds of people to download for free. our biggest enemy is obscurity. One book will not make us famous but when our name gets known, people will buy the books whether you give them away or not.

I think someone promoted their book in that sort of manner not too long ago. Can’t remember who it was, but I think she (at least, I think it was a woman), openly challenged people to pirate her book. She had others post the download links everywhere so that people could get a copy of the book for free. Wish I could remember the name of the author.
