#Review: Vampire Most Wanted – Lynsay Sands
For Basha Argeneau, living life in obscurity is the name of the game. So much so, that she now goes by the name of Divine. She’s tired of her family’s double dealings, as well as all of the lies. In her mind, the farther she can get away from them, the better off she’ll be. Granted, things sometimes don’t work out the way she wants them to. Nevertheless, shes determined in staying of the radar.
Living at a local carnival as a fortune teller, Divine uses her unique powers to help those around her. She loves what she does, and never tires of it. The members of the carnival have become family to her, and she’ll do everything possible to protect them. It’s the least can do to keep them safe. Sadly, all that changes when unexpected company shows up on the carnival grounds.
Determined to keep her true nature a secret, Divine refuses to stand by while everything around her changes profusely. She knows Lucian Argeneau has sent his cronies out to fetch her. In the eyes of many, she can be considered a Rogue, and she must be brought in for questioning. That is something she cannot allow. She’s spent way too much time running from her past. There’s no way she’s going to go back to the way things were before.
Divine knows she’ll need to get Marco off her trail. The man knows she’s different, even though he doesn’t quite understand the how or why. His determination in trying to find out who, and what she is, is commendable, to a point. Still, there’s no way she going to allow him to gain the upper hand. Sure, there’s a little chemistry going on between them, but that’s not enough to make her want to do as he asks. She’s suffered too much pain and heartache to make her presence known to the world again. If only she could forget about the way Marco makes her feel. Perhaps then, can she truly protect herself from the chaos lurking in the shadows.
While I’ve started this series on book 20, Vampire Most Wanted is one of those stories that gives you enough back story to make it stand alone. We’re caught smack-dab in the middle of Divine’s plight as she does her best to survive. I think Lynsay has crafted a well-rounded series full of intrigue, suspense, and romance that’s sure to capture anyone’s attention. A lot may argue that this book is too dark in tone, but I think it’s sometimes necessary in order to truly tell a character’s back story. It helps us to understand how they came to be where they are now. I’m looking forward to catching up on the rest of the series soon.
