Review: The Darkness Of Love – Catherine Green
Lord Gregory Stockton has lived a charmed life. He has everything he could ever want – a loving wife, a roof over is head, money at his disposal, and lovers aplenty. He enjoys the fact that he can do just about anything whenever he wants, something his wife has noticed on occasion. Though they lead a great life, there’s something missing in their lives – the pitter-patter of little feet.
Gregory knows that his wife Sarah will do anything to give him a child. Sadly, that’s the one he knows he cannot give her. He’s a vampire, you see, and vampires can’t procreate. Never-the-less, that doesn’t deter him from concocting the perfect plan to give Sarah exactly what she wants. He knows that making sure everything goes to plan will be a tad difficult, but that’s never stopped him before.
Setting things into motion, Gregory soon realizes that not everything is as simple as they seem. Sarah has plans of her own, and she’s determined in making sure she gets exactly what she wants. Amelia, his paramour, has come along for the ride, intent on helping him see things through. In his mind, they’ll be able to ensure that he finally gets the heir he’s so desired. Not to mention his just desserts in the long run.
This was honestly a very riveting story. I liked the way Catherine set the stage for each of her characters. They’re all playing a game of cat and mouse, intent on gaining the upper hand in hopes of winning their heart’s desires. Yes, this is a vampire story, but I like the fact that it’s set in Victorian times. It’s refreshing to see just how far Gregory will go to make sure he gets what he wants and more. Looking forward to more of Catherine’s books.

Lord Gregory notices the subtle growing romantic attraction between his wife and the handsome young stable hand Marcus Scott resulting in the humans becoming unwitting pawns in a vampire’s game of lust, love and control.
