Rez Cantor has always followed the orders he’s been given to the letter in hopes of climbing the ranks within the Imperial Army’s Shadow Guard. There’s nothing that he wouldn’t do for his country and his biggest wish is to see things finally go in favor for his beloved monarchy. Yet all that changes when the Relcor, a very ruthless and vicious enemy, decide that Melela must be conquered, at all costs.

With war headed their way, the Melelan’s must do everything they can to ensure their survival. This includes getting off of the planet as fast as possible, yet that is easier said than done. Relcor officials land on the planet under the guise of a peace treaty in order to gain entrance to the royal quarters. In their minds, the royal family must be taken out completely and they’ll do anything to achieve it.

Summoned before his superior, Rez finds himself confused as to what his true purpose in being there is. Everything about the day seems so out of the norm and he’s no longer sure as to what is correct and what is not. Yet when the Queen suddenly appears and tasks him with ensuring her daughter’s survival, he soon realizes that there’s more afoot than he really knew.

Smuggling Leanna out of the city is no easy feat, but Rez is determined to achieve that goal no matter the consequence. He manages to do just that, but not without mishap. His ship is attacked moments before being able to completely make their escape. When he next comes too, his ship is completely destroyed and scattered one of the moons of Tiiana and the princess is now missing. He’s in an unknown place with no way of getting back home.

Rez soon finds himself captured by the denizens living on the planet who are intent on making him do exactly what they want him to do. He, on the other hand, refuses to cater to their demands. Learning their ways, he soon plots his escape. Unfortunately, it’s not as easy as he thought it would be. Never-the-less, he’s going to give it all he’s got if he’s to success in obtaining his freedom. He needs to find the princess in order to get them back home.

Catapulted into a war between the five moons, Rez realizes that he’s in way over his head. Each of the unique denizens of each moon have staked their claim upon him in hopes of either stopping him within his tracks or gaining his allegiance. At first, he’s not sure whether he should give those in need a helping hand. He wants nothing more than to achieve his goals in order to find peace once more. Yet when the battle ends up on his very doorstep, so to speak, he comes to the realization that he’ll need to help end the war if he’s to succeed in gaining an end to his own means.

I found myself very much immersed in this unique world that Paul has created. I’m a lover of all things science-fiction and I think he did a wonderful job in setting the stage for the this story. I can only imagine the amount of time that went into compiling the research for the this story and think it was very well done.

The story hooks the reader in from the very beginning and doesn’t let go until you get to the very. Even then you find yourself wanting to read more. It’s that engrossing! I look forward to reading more of Paul’s work in the future.

Synopsis:

The 5 Moons of Tiiana is a science fiction narration on a soldier caught in the middle of an interstellar war, faced with rescuing the princess he loves, and solving a 2000 year-old mystery that just might yield the secret to bringing peace to both sides of the galaxy.

Captain Rez Cantor is commander of the Imperial Army’s Shadow Guard and the personal attaché to Princess Leanna, the sixteen-year-old daughter of the Emperor, and sole heir to the Melelan throne.

On the eve of a treaty signing ending the twelve-year-war between the alien-hybrid Relcor and the Melelan Empire, Rez learns that the Imperial family has been slated for death. Under orders from his Queen, Rez is given his final command–save the Princess at all costs.

Overcoming insurmountable odds, Rez abducts Leanna from the Imperial palace, and the two flee Melela along with others of the Imperial guard. Unfortunately, their ship is nuked as it enters warp, creating an event horizon that sends the ship 128,000 light years across the galaxy to the Moons of Tiiana. It is on one of these moons that Rez awakens upon a beach–injured and alone–without the Princess.

So begins the sojourn of Rez Cantor upon the Moons of Tiiana: Five moons stagnating from a 2000 year-old war that has left its alien races in limbo and decay. Five moons that crave a hero bold enough to lead its people out of the darkness. Five moons that hold the future of the Melelan Empire deep within the ashes of war.

Paul T. Harry attended the University of Nevada Las Vegas as an English major with a theater arts minor before beginning his career as a writer and music producer. He also worked as an editor with Second Avenue Songwriter’s magazine and has spent the last 30 years writing novels, screenplays and short stories.
