SII ButtonFor as long as she can remember, Skye Hunter has been a little different. It’s not that she wants to be, she doesn’t. It’s just that she doesn’t haven’t a choice in the matter itself. When it becomes apparent that her nine-year-old son also shares her unique powers, she soon realizes that she’ll need to do everything possible to keep the boy safe.

There have been a good many attempts on his life already, and she refuses to allow anything else to happen to him. Granted, Tyler isn’t quite happy about the fact that they keep having to move around, but it’s for his own good. She will not allow those who seek to take him from her to lay another hand on him. Not now. Not ever.

When her sessions with her therapist reveal a sliver of her past she never knew was there, Skye soon realizes that there’s more to the situation than she ever knew. There’s something about her past that someone wants to keep hidden. So much so, that they’ll do anything to achieve that fact, including silencing her and her beloved son for good.

SII BCRefusing to give her attacker the upper hand, Skye turns to the one person she’s not sure she should trust. David Bishop is a part of her past, even though she doesn’t quite understand how that is possible. He’s her only link to discovering what her mind has blocked out for so long. Unfortunately, he’s not that forthcoming. In fact, he’s downright hostile. Never-the-less, she’s determined to set all wrongs to right, even if he refuses to lend her the helping hand she so clearly needs from the get-go.

Action-packed from the very beginning, Shrouded In Illusion is one of those books that captures the reader’s interest from the get-go, and keeps it glued to every page from start to finish. H. D.’s easy-going writing style allows the reader to immerse him/herself in the storyline, never once losing place or pace as we seek to discover what happens next to Skye, David, and her beloved son, Tyler. Heck, even David’s father earned a place in my own heart. This is definitely one of those books I’ll be reading again. It’s a great addition to the Shrouded series, and I can’t wait to see what comes next for this wonderful series.
