SVSW BC Battling with the demons of her past, Ixa Reyes has done her best to put the deaths of her parents and her little sister behind her. She’s blamed herself for their passing, wishing she could go back in time and save them from perishing. Yet she knows such a thing can never be. She lives with the pain and heartache of the ordeal every day and knows she’ll never truly come to terms with the fact that they were taken from her at such an early age.

Determined to pick up the pieces of her life, Ixa has done everything within her power to make her grandfather proud. He loves her unconditionally and has been trying to help her nurture the powers she harbors inside. Ixa refuses to believe she’s anything special and considers her visions to be a curse inflicted upon her by the Gods. Her father says otherwise, but she’ll have none of it. Her powers are the cause of her family’s demise and she’ll have nothing to do with it, even if it surges to the surface unexpectedly, every now and then.

Ixa became a cop to deal with the need to bring down the man behind the destruction of her family. She’s hell-bent on making him pay for what he’s done and she’ll never stop until she succeeds. When it becomes apparent he’s no longer behind bars, Ixa knows she’ll need to do everything she can in order to stop him from wreaking havoc upon her yet again. The question is, can she do it?

When two women bearing a tattoo of a hummingbird, the very same tattoo she herself bears, Ixa wonders if it’s a coincidence. Galante soon appears before her, intent on finishing what he started so long ago. When an unexpected warrior intercedes, Ixa realizes there’s more at stake than she ever knew. Drawn to the man in unexpected ways, she does her best to ignore her new-found feelings for him. Sadly, that’s easier said than done.

When her grandfather disappears, Ixa has no other choice than to band together with the warrior. Her better sense prevails and she does her best to remain aloof while working with him to set all wrongs to right. Unfortunately, she can’t deny the stirrings of her own heart. Racing against time to save humanity, Ixa discovers she possesses the ability to finally control the power brewing deep within her, a fact she’s ignored for as long as she can remember. Finally accepting who she is, she vows to fulfill her destiny in order to save the world, and her grandfather, before its too late.

This was quite an awesome read. I enjoyed it immensely. The story pulls you in from the moment you begin reading, its action continuing consistently with every turn of the page. I think Gabriella did a wonderful job in creating a world surrounding the lore behind the Aztec gods. I can only imagine the extensive research that went into the story’s creation. Beautifully crafted and nicely written, Shadow Visions is a quick and very intriguing read. I truly recommend it!
