#Review: My Soul Immortal – Jen Printy
Jack Hammond’s life has never been normal. It’s been full of secrets. Secrets that can destroy him and all those around him should they fall into the wrong hands. As if that’s not enough, he harbors the pain and memories of losing his first love. The beautiful Lydia is never far from his mind. She invades his every thought, his every moment of existence. He knows he needs to let her go, but his heart refuses to erase the one good thing he had going in his life.
His life takes an unexpected turn when he meets the beautiful Leah. To Jack’s astonishment, she resembles Lydia in all almost every way. Even her scent is the same. Deep inside, he knows there’s no way she could be Lydia. Yet his mind refuses to let go of that fact. Determined to make sense of the situation, he does the only thing he can. He ingratiates himself into her life against his better judgment.
Though Leah doesn’t take too kindly to him, Jack knows there’s no way he can leave her be. There’s something about her that draws her to him, and he’ll do everything possible to find what that is. His heart keeps telling him that he knows Leah, that she’s definitely someone close to him, no matter how crazy that may seem.
To make matters worse, someone’s determined in wreaking havoc on both of their lives. Jack lost Lydia once. There’s no way he’s going to lose her again. Granted, Leah doesn’t quite trust him, and refuses to have anything to do with him. Part of him knows that if they’re going to overcome whatever is headed their way, they’ll need to trust in one another. That may be easier said than done, but it’s a risk he’s willing take. A risk, he realizes, may prove to be worthwhile in the long run.
A lovely start to the Faded Eternals series, Jen has set up a truly intriguing world where nothing is what it seems. Jack’s immortality makes it hard for him to remain in one place. It’s harder still when he can’t tell anyone about who and what he is. Then there’s the enigmatic Lydia/Leah. Both wreak havoc on his mind and libido. Jack knows she’s the answer to the chaos that surrounds him. He just isn’t sure as to whether he’s ready to trust in himself and those he’s come to know. Definitely looking forward to what comes next for this series!
