Review: Mocked By Faith: Affirming The Faith – Michele Richard
Alexia and Justin McNear’s lives have been full of up’s and down’s. From the moment they knew about their being contracted to one another, they’ve encountered opposition right and left. Granted, the opposition hasn’t come from their families and loved ones, but rather from unfortunate circumstances. Despite the turbulence their lives have been fraught with, they’ve done their best to overcome a multitude of adversities. Never once has their love and devotion wavered.
When the opportunity to run a new community arises, the couple is faced with a new challenge. Alexia refuses to live her life without her husband. After all, he’s also the father of their beloved children, and they deserve to be together. Unwilling to displease his wife in any way, Justin surprises her with the knowledge that she and the children will be joining him at the complex. Her delight is dampened, however, by the thought of leaving her son, Kaiden. Despite the fact that he died before his birth, a day has not gone by when she doesn’t stop thinking of him.
Beneath Justin’s watchful eye, the community flourishes in ways no one ever expected it to. New families have joined the already growing facility, and many more come every day. Alexia’s life is full of love and compassion, yet it’s still fraught with peril. With each challenge, she learns to accept the situations for what they are. Each test allows her to love her husband and her family just a little more.
In an imperfect world, she’s made do with the simplicities of life, and is forever grateful to have Justin by her side. He’s been her rock through everything they’ve experienced, and her love for him grows more each day. Weathering numerous storms, they discover that with love anything is possible, and that faith will guide them along God’s path every step of the way.
This was honestly an awesome culmination to Justin and Alexia’s story. Michele has done a wonderful job in crafting a unique world centered around a tight-knit community where the simplicities of life, love, friends, family, and God mean more than what the world outside can offer. Granted, the marriages in the community itself are all pre-arranged, but it goes to show that love can grow from something so little, even when you don’t know the person very well in the beginning. A truly endearing series, it’s one that’s definitely thought-provoking and meaningful, set to touch the heart of anyone who reads it.
The time has come for Alexia and Justin McNear to move out of their beloved home at The Gates, a hidden gated community where time doesn’t change the way of life. It’s time for a new start with the birth of a new community, and children to raise in the faith they cherish. Alexia and Justin’s challenges are far from a thing of the past. Life’s not always perfect. This is a fact these two know all too well. Together they’ll have to remind each other nothing is ever perfect.
Alexia has grown to accept her husband and her role in life, but now, new issues will arise, and force her to fight to keep her family together and safe. Her days of insecurities may be behind her, but she’ll be tested to see if she’s really ready to be a minister’s wife.
Justin has learned the error of his ways and will stop at nothing to protect his family and faith. Now a minister, he must show his parishioners he’s more than capable of leading them. There are no challenges or disabilities too great to overcome.
Together they’ll have to select the perfect spouses to contract for their children and lead L’île d’anges, the new community left in their trust to build. In a world of arranged marriages and dominating husbands, things are not always as they seem. Even with the small progresses their faith has made, they’ll cling to the ways of the past generations.
They’re in for an uphill battle when Mother Nature sets her eye upon them. Locked away from anyone to help them, they’ll have to rely on each other and their faith to see them through.
Is history repeating itself? When one son has no match, what then? Can they beat the clock before it’s too late?
