Review: Love In The Shadows – Dylan Madrid
Quintin Pearson has spent most of his time in London immersed in his work. It’s his way of getting over a broken heart. Granted, it hasn’t done much to help him erase the painful memories lurking at the back of his mind. There’s never a moment when he doesn’t think about the one man who made an impact in his life. He’s loved Kevin with every inch of his heart and body. The fact that he’s now gone without a trace is a blow he can’t quite shake.
When an unexpected encounter with the American ambassador’s wife leads to an invitation to a private party, Quintin begins to wonder as to whether his good fortune is changing. Though he knows he should heed the trepidation lurking in his mind and heart, he decides to take the next step in liberating himself from the painful memories surrounding him. The road to freedom won’t be easy, but he’s willing to try, none-the-less.
Things take a harried turn when the ambassador is murdered in the midst of the party. The perpetrator’s presence is unknown, making things a tad more difficult for Quintin. He’s the odd man out, and all roads seem to lead in his direction. Determined to make sense of what’s going on, he allows himself to trust the one man who’s made it possible for him to get to safety. Luca is his only recourse if they’re to get to the bottom of things. Yet there’s one thing neither has taken into account-the attraction steadily growing between them.
A titillating tale, Love In The Shadows is a story that certainly won’t disappoint. Caught up in a web of intrigue and mystery, we’re immersed in Quintin’s tumultuous life from the get-go. It’s refreshing to see the camaraderie that exists between all of the characters as they try to co-exist in such a chaotic world. I definitely look forward to more of Dylan’s work.
