Review: I Am Yours – Faith Sullivan
From the moment Adam crossed paths with the beautiful Katie, he’s been unable to get her out of his head. He can’t forget about the fact that she died in his arms so long ago. Nor can he deny that he gave her his heart in that brief moment they shared. He knows he should let her go. That he’s better off in setting his ghosts to rest, but Katie’s memory refuses to leave him.
He entered a relationship with Jada, hoping that she’d make him forget about the pain and heartache he was feeling. For awhile, she was able to do just that. He reveled in the love she was willing to give him, though he never quite committed his heart to what they now share between them. How could he? Katie’s memory holds everything he holds dear, and it refuses to set him free.
Adam’s actions catapult him in the wrong direction. He knows he must deal with everything coming his way, but he has a hard time in grasping the severity of the situations he now finds himself in. His world is further turned topsy-turvy when his brother’s fiancée makes an unexpected announcement. As if his life couldn’t get any worse, he soon comes face to face with a woman who’s exact likeness is that of the late Katie.
Adam finds himself foundering in a dark abyss as he tries to come to terms with the fact that this girl looks, sounds, and even has the same name as the girl who died in his arms. In his mind, she’s one and the same, even if there are subtle differences that put her at arm’s length from the other Katie. As if that’s not enough to get used to, Jada, Brian, and Kelly soon set off a chain reaction of events that make him question his existence even more.
Torn between what is right, and what is wrong, Adam must soon contend with his emotions in regards to Katie and Jada. He’s pulled into more than one direction, unsure as to where it is he has to go. He knows he’ll need to try and set things straight, once and for all. The question is, how can he do that when his mind tells him one thing, and his heart tells him another?
This was a great culmination to the Heartbeat series. I enjoyed it very much. It was nice to see Adam’s hectic world tidied up in such a way that left him redeemed in my eyes. Faith has spun a heart-wrenching and bittersweet story that elicits emotion from the moment you begin reading. Granted, she’s injected quite a few twists and turns that momentarily make you question as to whether what you read really did happen. If you haven’t given this series a try yet, you should. You won’t be disappointed. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Adam is at a crossroads.
He has Katie on his mind and Jada in his bed.
Now with the ultimate choice before him, he must decide between fantasy and reality.
Katie’s his dream girl, but Jada’s his best friend, his partner. As a paramedic, he’s supposed to save lives, not wreck them. Yet his failure to commit leaves a trail of heartache in his wake.
Things come to a head at his brother’s wedding when a surprise announcement leaves Adam scrambling to pick up the pieces. Sure, women find his shaggy blond hair and aquamarine eyes irresistible. But to him, sex is nothing more than a means of escape … until it turns into a psychological trap.
His mind is telling him one thing, while his heart is beating another. He’s not sure what he wants when it comes to a serious relationship. Sorting out his feelings, he finally comes to a startling realization. He is capable of love.
But what if it’s too late?
