Review: Firebolt – Adrienne Woods
Elena Watkins lived her life ignorant of the world around her. As a child, her father told her stories about a world named Paegeia. A world where faeries, dragons, and all sorts of other creatures exist. In her mind, the place was nothing but a fairy tale. Something her father told her about in order to keep her placated at night. For awhile, all that was fine and dandy. Until the moment, she and her father found themselves running for their lives from an unknown evil.
Losing her father to a dragon, no less, Elena soon realizes that all of the stories he told her about are really true. Paegeia does exist, and she’s very much a part of it. Whisked away to this new world, she’s forced to confront a truth her father has kept from her for so long. Part of her understands why he’s kept his secrets. While another part of her detests him for leaving her foundering in a dark abyss she may never get out of.
To her dismay, Elena is soon pushed toward the Dragonia Academy, a place where young Dragonians learn about who they are and how to master their powers. Everything she sees is mind-boggling to her. Back on Earth, she was nothing special. There was nothing to distinguish her from the person she now is in Paegeia. The realm’s residents are determined in getting her to accept who and what she’s now become. Sadly, that’s easier said than done. Most especially, when secrets continue to surround her existence. Secrets, she realizes, that may prove to be her undoing in the long run.
A delightful start to what seems to a very interesting series, Firebolt thrusts the reader into Elena’s hectic life. She’s just a teenager trying to make the most of the world she lives in. A teenager who’s never truly had a normal life. Adrienne has built a world where not everything is as it seems. Elena must learn to contend with things she doesn’t understand. Things that make her question what she knows about herself, her father, and this new and very unique world. The author’s story-telling definitely captures attention, making it easy to immerse oneself in the world she’s lovingly created.

Dragons. Right. Teenage girls don’t believe in fairy tales, and sixteen-year-old Elena Watkins was no different.
Until the night a fairy tale killed her father.
Now Elena is in a new world, and a new school. The cutest guy around may be an evil dragon, a prince wants Elena’s heart, and a long dead sorcerer may be waking up to kill her. Oh and the only way Elena’s going to graduate is on the back of a dragon of her own.
Teenage girls don’t believe in fairy tales. Now it’s time for Elena to believe in…herself.
About The Author:
I was born and raised in South Africa, where I still live with my husband, and two beautiful little girls. I always knew that I was going to be a writer but it only started to happen about four years ago, now I can’t stop writing.
In my free time, If I get any because Moms don’t really have free time, I love to spend time with friends, if it’s a girls night out, or just a movie, I’m a very chilled person.
My writing career is starting with Firebolt, book one with the Dragonian Series, there will be four books in total and two to three books that is about the stories taking place inside The Dragonian Series.
I do write in different Genres, I have a woman’s fiction called the Pregnancy Diaries, but it would be published under another name. And then I have a paranormal series, called the Watercress series. There are about ten novels in that one.
So, plenty of novels to come out, so little time.
I hope you are going to embrace the Dragonian Series as much as I loved writing them.
