#Review: Fever – Melissa Pearl
For as long as she can remember, Ella Simmons has lived in the cocoon she’s built for herself. It’s the only way she’s been able to deal with her parents’ untimely death. Granted, her doing so hasn’t been to the liking of her loved ones, but she can’t change the way things have been. She’s tried her best to come to grips with everything. So much so, that she’s willing to step out of her box for just a little while, even if it means she’ll end right back where she started in the long run.
Determined to make the most of her current situation, Ella promises to do the best she can at the new college she’s going to. She’s got her best friend, Morgan, there in case anything goes wrong, and of course, there’s David, her beloved boyfriend. With the two of them standing by her side and giving her the support she needs, she knows she’ll be able to withstand whatever comes her way. Until the moment she meets David’s best friend. It’s then her world is turned upside-down.
Cole is everything she never knew she wanted in a man. Sexy, gorgeous, and his voice–Oh, my God! Ella knows that she shouldn’t think too much about Cole. He’s David’s best friend, for Pete’s sake. Yet she can’t help herself in doing so. There’s something about him that piques her interest, not to mention that he makes her feels things David never has.
Deep inside, Ella knows that she should leave well enough alone. There’s no way she could hurt David. She shouldn’t entertain wayward thoughts about Cole, nor should she feel the way she does. Sadly, keeping him at arm’s length is easier said than done. The man is considerate to a fault, and lends her an ear whenever needed. He really is easy to get along with. When matters of the heart come into play, it’s hard not to consider what should or shouldn’t be. Most especially when there’s a gorgeous man standing in the shadows, ready to be there when she needs him the most.
Wow . . . just WOW! I’ve got to say that this is such a terrific start to what will definitely be an awesome series. From the moment I opened the book, I didn’t want to put it down. With a few simple words, Melissa draws you into the story, and makes sure that your attention stays with the story until the very end. Her easy-to-read and quite pleasant story-telling spins your emotions in such a way that you’re honestly so engrossed in the story that you lose track of time. Every emotion, vivid description, and heart-wrenching scene will leave you breathless and aching as the book slides to a close. Trust me, you’re going to feel like you want to keep reading more. So can’t wait for Morgan’s story. I bet it’ll be just as hot and emotional as Ella’s!
Ella Simmons does not want to move across the country. But she is, because her boyfriend has persuaded her to join him at UChicago to finish out her college education. Never able to tell him no, she hops on a plane and makes the trek from LA expecting to adjust to life like she’s often forced to, but things are not that simple when she hears a luscious voice singing over her shower wall. His deep, sexy tenor makes her weak in the knees, spreading fire through her limbs and making her question everything about her life and relationship.
Can one voice really have that much of an impact?
Cole Reynolds is on his way out. In his final year at UChicao, the only this he wants to do is finish school and get on with this life. But the sweet voice that interrupts his morning shower turns his world upside down. Compelled to find his shower songbird, he begins a search across campus. The only thing to distract him from this goal is his roommate’s gorgeous girlfriend who’s just arrived from LA – Ella Simmons.
Relationships are put to the ultimate test as future dreams are questioned and friendships are thrown on the line for love.
