Review: Fangs Rule – Amy Mah
For centuries, it’s been said that vampires live amongst us. That their way of life is similar to ours, even if they live in secret. It’s also been said they don’t eat, sleep, or even breathe. Myths surrounding vampires also tell us that they’ve wings and can turn into bats, amongst other things.
With this guide for the every day vampire girl, Amy Mah puts all those myths to rest. Vampires do breath and sleep and they very much eat. There’s just a certain etiquette one must follow in order to acquaint themselves with the right or wrong way in which to live life as a vampire.
Vampires go through the same hardships as we do, but as the guide defines, they have it harder than we do. From the moment they are born, (unless they’re turned), every aspect of a teenage vampire girl’s life is dictated. Heck, they’re even contracted for marriage way before they’re even born.
Despite that fact, this delightful guide tells us the right way to go about things in the vampire world. Undergarments, lipstick, fashion, boyfriends, food – you name it, there’s a rule for that. Regardless of what you’re told immortality is not a given, as vampires can also die. A vampire’s saving grace is the fact that they’ve a longer life span.
As depicted within Amy’s guide, etiquette and proper grooming is the key in getting the best out of the vampiric world. And if you ever thought that vampires don’t date then think again. They do. Just their way of doing things is quite different from ours. Plus, there’s the fact that they bite.
This handy little guide on etiquette and all things vampire in a teenager’s world is a definite must have. It’ll definitely teach you a thing or two on how to stay alive and co-exist in today’s vampiric, and human-alike, society.
So if you ever find yourself skulking around in a dark alley and happen to meet a hunky vampire, or two or three, just remember the lessons learned in this cheeky little book Amy has put together. Remembering the golden rules of being a vampire will surely help you stay alive. And remember, don’t forget to carry around one of those handy blood packs in case you ever get the munchies!
I so totally enjoyed reading this book. It’s humor and insight into a teenage vampire’s world was truly delightful. Humans and vampires-alike will love the sass and spunk found within every page. The advice offered can certainly be implemented into just about anything.
The illustrations found within the book were very beautiful and nicely put together. I felt each one added a deeper perception to the story. The pictures were certainly eye-candy for sure. A definite must-read!
Synopsis: A self help guide by Amy Mah (Vampire) for teenage vampire girls, the guide is fully illustrated by manga Artist Heby and is written in an easy to follow A – Z format explaining everything a teenage vampire girl would need to know about living life as a modern Vampire.
What is fashionable to wear when eating out? Fang maintenance & how to keep your claws sharp. Should you let a boy bite you on the first date? Easy to understand clear advice is given to every day problems.
Example: When you get an urge to bite: We all get those normal urges to bite things, and I must point out it is very normal, Claws are all well and good in a fight but a bite gives the extra advantage of getting a refreshing drink at the same time. Lots of girls worry about showing their Fangs in public believing that to show your fangs is rude, but don’t be shy they can be a girls greatest asset (ok second greatest asset) if a boy is being rude to you, don’t just snarl at him, just bite him! You are a vampire why do you think you have sharp teeth if not for sinking them into a boy that is being rude to you.
About The Author:
The author Amy Mah (Vampire) is a well known blogger, that writes and blogs as a cynical teenage vampire:
Being a vampire sounds like it should be a cool thing to be as a teenage girl, like sleeping during the day and enjoying a night life with friends, huh, no one had warned me that it also meant having to suffer Teenage Hormones for so long! I am stuck as a teenager the years may pass but I am the same age! And as to the rules, so many rules, and vampire uniforms!
Guys have long fancy cloaks that they are always tripping over and as to the Girls uniform, it is a 18th C Nightdress! The old male vampires expect a girl to walk about wearing just a see through nightdress with no underwear on!! as if that is ever going to happen!, they have seen far too many horror films! Life as a teenager is normally a living hell but even more so when you have fangs. The world is just out to get me, and not just by people trying to stake me because I have better teeth than they do!
The Real: ………… Amy Mah
Ok you want to know about me? Well I am a little older than my Vampire self which you first meet when she is 16, and I am in my 20s.
With my books I have tried to create a different type of vampire series using myself as the main character and so with the help of an excellent cartoonist my true likeness has been changed into a manga cartoon that you will see on the book covers and also inside the books as my book is full to bursting with colour drawings of me and my vampire friends and family.
Once you get to know me and my writing you will discover that I am a little crazy ……heck make that a lot crazy as Amy Mah the vampire character is me!
In creating my vampire world I have added a lot of real stuff which happened in my past and added it into my writings so yes my life has been real crazy in the past to fit into a self help vampire guide!
Fangs Rule (a girls guide to being a vampire) is a funny, cynical and sarcastic look at the problems of life as a teenage vampire, if you think being a teenage human can be problematic you try being a teenage vampire with hormones that mean you may like boys but in a way you would like to know their blood group before you date.
