#Review: Creatura – Nely Cab
For as long as she can remember, Isis Martin has been plagued by dreams she can’t quite comprehend. So much so, that the thought of sleeping frightens her. She’s tired of seeing the same dark presence in her mind, and she’s not quite sure as to why it makes her afraid. She should be able to enjoy her dreams. So why do they insist on making her fear the act of sleeping day in and day out?
Determined to overcome her fear, Isis gives in her doctor’s request to undergo a treatment that will help her sleep, once and for all. At first, it seems like it’s working, something she’s happy to see happening. Yet when things within her dreams take a sordid turn, she soon realizes there’s a whole new world out there. One, she never expected to come across.
The presence in her dreams has now materialized. He exists in the flesh, and he’s determined in making Isis come to terms with both her dreams and the world he comes from. Doing so is going to be trying, but David knows she needs to understand the powers buried within herself. There’s a lot at stake, and she must utilize everything she has at her disposal if she’s to overcome things.
Adjusting to the changes running rampant within her, Isis isn’t sure as to what to make of the unexpected turn of events. Who knew that David would turn out to be real? Granted, she’s still not used to the fact that he tries to undermine her efforts at every turn. If they’re to get along, he’ll need to give her a little space, and allow her to come to terms with her dreams and the world around them. Sadly, that’s easier said than done. Most especially when her attraction for David grows stronger by the day.
The first book in this series, Creatura is definitely a keeper. We find ourselves immersed in Isis’ turbulent world. A world where she can control her dreams, and shape them into something of her own making. Confronting her fears is difficult for her, but she knows it’s the only way to take a step forward if she’s to finally get a little reprieve from her own dreams.
I found David to be a little intimidating, at first, but he soon grew on me. Nely has fashioned a world where anything is possible. The love growing between these two characters starts off slow, and builds up to a crescendo that has you rooting for both by the time you get to the end of the book.
The cliffhanger at the end certainly mind-boggles, but it’s a lead in for what comes next. Will David and Isis overcome the adversities coming their way, I wonder? Let’s hope the two of them come out on top. Can’t wait for the next book to see where things take them next!
Isis can control her dreams. Or she could—until recently. The creature in her nightmares has been haunting her for months. As if being dumped wasn’t bad enough, now she dreads going to sleep. She decides to confront the creature and win back some of her peace; only, she finds that he’s not a monster and he’s not a dream.
A sacrifice for love, a shocking discovery and a jealous ex-boyfriend blur the lines between reality and dreams, making it hard to tell who the real monsters are.
Who would’ve known…that sometimes love is lethal?
