Review: Cassiela – Danielle Gavan
Cassiela, the Angel of Deliverance, has been tasked with keeping an eye on the Angel of Death in order to ensure he does as he’s told, a task she’s weary of undertaking. Never-the-less, she’ll do as she’s been asked in hopes of helping him to come to terms with what’s he’s done. Yet never once did she imagine the whirlwind of emotions that the mere sight of the angel evokes within her. Death’s task of bringing the souls of the dead to Tartarus has unknowingly unlocked the secrets of her past, a fact she’s doing her best to keep under wraps while trying to overcome her attraction for him.
Telling herself that keeping Azrael in line is an easy feat, one she knows isn’t really true. She’s determined to hold onto her end of the bargain in order to ensure that nothing bad happens during the rest of his captivity. She knows he had a heavy hand in the events that set Ardeur apart from the rest of the angels, but is willing to forgive him for his indiscretions.
Azrael, on the other hand, isn’t willing to let go of his past hurts. He knows he put Ardeur through hell and even caused her children a bit of harm. He laments the fact that he did what he did, yet part of him knows something else was behind his doing so. The question is, what or who was the cause of it?
Banding with Cassiela in order to discover what made him commit the atrocities he’s committed, he soon realizes that having her as one of his guardians is much more than he bargained for. The beautiful redhead incites his senses, urging him to stake his claim upon her, once and for all. Part of him wants to do just that, while another part knows he needs to come to terms with the consequences of his past actions before he can truly move forward.
When it becomes apparent that there is more afoot about the situation at hand than she and the other angels ever imagined, Cassiela decides to take matters into her own hands. Giving in to the demands of her own heart, she places her trust within Azrael’s hands. With him by her side, she knows they’ll be able to discover what’s going on and set all wrongs to right. A battle is on the horizon and both Heaven and Hell are preparing for what’s to come. Who will win, she doesn’t really know, but there is one thing she is sure of. There will be casualties on both side, but truth will always reign supreme.
The second book in this wonderful series certainly does not disappoint. Picking up where the first left, sort of, we’re catapulted into a world surrounding the consequences of Azrael’s actions. Told from Cassiela’s point-of-view, we’re able to see the angelic world through her eyes and feel the pain, heartache, and the doubts that she and the other angels experience as they try to come to terms with what Azrael has done. Granted, there are quite a few twists and turns thrown in a long the way that will leave the reader guessing as to what happens next, but that’s the beauty of a good book, right? So can’t wait for what comes next!
Gripped by crazed jealousy, the Angel of Death gave up on his happily ever after, until the day a shy redhead appeared. Could she be the cure Azrael’s madness?
Cassiela is plagued with lustful thoughts of the Angel she’s assigned to guard. Once bitten, Cassie is twice shy from the moment she sets eyes on Azrael. Lost in his dark eyes and easy smile, the Angel of Deliverance finds old hurt and pain coming back to haunt her—in more ways than one.
One Angel will stop at nothing to keep Rae and Cassie from claiming the life they never expected to have. A battle to rival the Great War in Heaven is begun by Rae and Cassiela’s need and love for one another. Will something even they never expected, and are unwilling to give up, turn the earth into a battle ground, and the lovers facing off against the biggest Angel of them all?
