Review: Broken World – Chloe Adams
Mia’s world has been torn asunder. Reeling from the aftermath of her assault, she’s not exactly sure as to what she should do. Nor does she know who she should trust or turn to. To make matters worse, she now has to deal with what the attack left behind. Deep inside, she wants nothing more than to curl into a tight ball, and ignore the outside world.
Forced to confront the repercussions of that sordid night, Mia soon realizes that not everything is as they seem. Her family has secrets. Secrets she’s known nothing about. To top it all off, those around are using her ordeal as a means of stepping up the ladder, something she refuses to allow.
Unwilling to give those around her the satisfaction of knowing just how broken she is, Mia dives head-first into the chaos she now calls life. If she’s to succeed in putting what’s happened behind her, she’ll need to confront those who have done her harm. Granted, that’s easier said than done.
Refusing to sit on the sidelines, Mia knows she needs to set things straight, once and for all. Doing so will change life as everyone knows it. Yet she knows what she has to do must be done. For her sake, and for those she loves, the decisions must be made. Even if they end up changing things further when the time comes.
A bittersweet story, Broken World is one that will move the reader in every way possible. Chloe touches upon a topic that’s well-known in today’s day and age. A topic that many don’t do anything about for fear of the repercussions later on.
In this book, Mia, though afraid, has decided that she’ll no longer hide from the world around her. She’s suffering, yes, but she’s determined in being strong in the face of such adversity. Her pain and heartache pour from every age, and you find yourself sympathizing with her every predicament. Kudos on such a stirring and quite touching story, Chloe.
A confrontation is brewing …
Mia realizes the aftermath of her rape is not over when she is rocked by another challenge, one that will put her publicly at odds with her father, a U.S. Senator who has made her the poster child for his re-election. But the public face he wants her to wear can’t be further from who she is inside.
The latest rape victim is expected to die soon, and only Mia can identify the attackers. With pressure from the police to come forward, Mia is distraught when her father forbids her from speaking out.
She is surprised to discover new allies in her siblings, who break ranks with her father to support her. But even they have their own agenda.
Before Mia turns eighteen, she’ll face the ultimate choice: betraying her family or her conscience.
