Guest Post: Muses By Madison Daniel
My ultimate writing tool and motivator is music. It pushes me. It soothes me. It is my favorite muse.
Every manuscript I write comes with a musical playlist. For inspiration and emotional intensity for each of my characters.
Today I thought I’d list my top 5 favorite artists or bands. The musical motivators. Word creators. Imagination DJ’s.
NUMBER FIVE: Alanis Morissette.
She is my emotion painter. No matter what situation I am writing, she seems to have a hit song that captures the characters feelings. I love that. I love her. She rocks!
NUMBER FOUR: Garbage
I. LOVE. GARBAGE. They have yet made or produced a bad album. Some of the most talented people in music make up this band. Shirley Manson is amazing. I bow to her. I can use their music in any situation…action, emotion, love, hate…you name it.
NUMBER THREE: Foo Fighters
Dave Grohl and the boys! Great song writing. Loud, thoughtful and fun. I love the Foo! When writing a strong hero or protagonist, you can’t get much better than these guys. Heck, I’m going to write something right now because they inspire me so much. Ha! Rock on!
NUMBER TWO: Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, Audioslave)
If I had this mans voice, I wouldn’t speak anymore. I would sing everything. Always. He’s one of my favorite voices. I use the soul and emotion in his singing for everything. Getting a characters emotions right. The intensity of a particular scene or action. He’s the best. The music world is a better place because of his talent.
NUMBER ONE: MUSE
I am sure these guys are the top of many writers lists. They can do it all musically. They are this generations Queen/Beatles/Stones/Zeppelin. So much talent in such a unique band. There are only 3 members! I can use their music for anything and everything (and I usually do)! Not only do they help me in my writing, they help in my painting, drawing, dancing, cooking, living, breathing. AND they have the best possible name for a band. MUSE, you had me at hello…
A little sister lost. A family tree withered. A journey to save the past.
Max Valentine is a walking supernova. On the run and searching for answers, his light darkens. Dark skies on the horizon make his next chapter ominous. His powers are fading but still he pushes toward the storm.
Embers still burn, but can he survive this one truth . . . ?
Love is eternal, but the heart is not.
About The Author:
Music is LIFE and the written word is our SOUL.
Music and writing have been my true ambition since I was a child. I have used music in every form possible; writing it, performing it, healing with it, etc. I call it my “life’s soundtrack.”
I have always written in some form, from comic books to screenplays to short stories and now the new series “Ember.” I have spent my writing life inspired by all the music of the universe, 80’s movies and eye candy.
When not writing I enjoy dreaming out loud, challenging the real world and inspiring the ones I love. I have found a true passion for my stories and characters and am eager to share them with the world.
See you on the next book tour…MD
