Do you have any fears?  Phobias?

I do and I’d love to tell you how mine developed.  When I was younger, pre-puberty, I was very, very tiny for my age.  My neighbours were older boys and they always talked/laughed about how little I was.  One day when their mother was babysitting me, the boys thought it would be funny to see if I fit in the turkey roaster pan.  So after they placed me inside the big pan and closed the lid on me, they decided it would be even more fun to stick me in the oven.

Yes, they really did this to me and no, they didn’t turn  the oven  on.  Whew! They really were nice boys and they weren’t trying to be cruel, but they somehow thought the whole ‘Cat fitting into a roaster pan inside the oven’ was hilarious.  What they didn’t realize was that they were creating a lifelong phobia for me!

I remember the panic I felt, unable to move, to see, or even fill my lungs with oxygen.   I was terrified!

Now, to this day I have real trouble with small spaces and avoid elevators if I can.  Once, years ago, when I was at work I had papers to deliver and was in a huge hurry.  I had to get to the top floor fast so I decided to brave the elevator, and you guessed it, it got stuck. Panicked, I kept ringing the alarm bell repeatedly, and the repair men outside the elevator were yelling at me to stop because they were trying to talk to me.  I was trapped inside with another lady who helped me get through it, but that situation brought back all those scary feelings from so long ago!

PR BCIn my story Pride’s Run, Pride might be a strong, fearless werewolf but it certainly doesn’t mean she has no inner phobias or deep dark fears.  In the second story Pride Unleashed, she has to come up against her innermost fears.  While the situation is difficult for her, I do believe she handles it much better than I did when faced with my fears!

So tell me, do you have any fears?  Do you remember when you developed them?

And now for the giveaways: we have two.

::winks::

For the first one, Cat has graciously allowed me to offer one lucky commenter an ebook copy of her book, Pride’s Run. In keeping to her post’s theme, all you need to do to enter the contest is to tell us what your biggest fear (if you have any) is. Don’t forget to include your name and email address so that I may contact you should you win.

For the second giveaway, at the bottom of this post there is a form in which to fill out where you can enter to win a printed copy of Pride’s Run signed by the author herself.

Good luck to all those entering both giveaways. Thanks so much for supporting Cat and her work. It is greatly appreciated!

Synopsis: Seventeen year old Pride is a tracker—a werewolf with a hunger for blood. Taught to trick and to lure, she is the perfect killing machine.

Kept leashed in the cellar by a master who is as ruthless as he is powerful, Pride dreams of freedom, of living a normal life, but escape from the compound is near impossible and disobedience comes with a price.

When she learns her master intends to breed her she knows she has to run.

But Pride soon learns that if she is to survive in the wild, she must trust in the boy who promises her freedom, the same boy she was sent to hunt.

With life and death hanging in the balance the two find themselves on the run from the Paranormal Task Force—officers who shoot first and ask questions later—as well as her master’s handlers.

Can Pride flee the man who has held her captive since birth and find sanctuary in the arms of a boy who has captured her heart? Or will her master find her first?
