Author Interview: Morrigan Michele
I am from all over really. I moved around a lot as a child. The town I live in now, Gatesville,Texas, is the one place that really feels like home. I love it because everything good has happened here. I met my husband, wrote my book, got published, and started my PR business right here. This is a small close knit town full of friendly people.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I have always had an obsession with teeth. I wanted to be a dentist. How has that childhood dream affected your career? As it turns out, I have a weak stomach. I did not become a dentist.

Betrayed is the first installment in the Blood and Magick Series. Being the daughter of a Wiccan practitioner has made Alexis Allcroft a social outcast – both in town and in school. Yet she’s done her best to not let this fact get to her. While her insecurities surface at the most inopportune times, she’s determined to walk forth with her head high in hopes of showing her classmates that the things they say don’t bother her. Unfortunately, she realizes that this is easier said than done.
Plagued by dreams she doesn’t quite understand, she starts looking forward to her seventeen birthday. Intent on drawing people’s attentions away from her, she cites a spell that ends up backfiring on her in the process. People’s secrets are shoved into the light – hers, included. Secrets, she soon realizes, that were better left in the dark.
The discovery of several crucial secrets leaves her wondering who she can, and cannot, trust. Even more daunting is the fact that she’s both a vampire and a witch. She finds this fact quite hard to accept. As is the knowledge that she wields a power unlike any other.
When her world is turned upside-down even further, she’s forced to go on the run with her trusty guardian by her side. She’s grateful for his support, even though there’s something about him that she can’t quite explain. Her family’s secrets threaten to engulf her, tearing at the edges of her trust for those she loves. As danger looms around the corner, she comes to understand that blood truly is thicker than water and that family will always be there when you least expect them to be.
Do you have anything new in the works and can you tell us a bit about it?
Yes, Misty and I are working on Immortal Lineage-Book 2 in this series.
Have you ever used contemporary events or stories “ripped from the headlines” in your work?
No, I have not. As a matter of fact, I try and avoid the news and local headlines. I don’t like the negativity and choose to avoid it.
Is there anything you find particularly challenging about writing?
Finding the time to actually write is challenge enough.

Excerpt: Starting the engine and putting the car in reverse, I decided to fill him in on how things worked around here. “Okay, would you care to explain what happened back there?” I asked, putting the car in drive and took off.
“What’s to explain?” he asked with a puzzled look on his face. “The girls around here are like flies swarming. And if I want to talk to someone I will. I don’t need any help.”
I pulled into Erie General and killed the ignition, turning to face him. “Those are two of the most popular girls in town. Valerie’s dad is the mayor for Goddess sake, Sebastian!”
“And?” he said, putting his hand on mine. “Your point is?”
His flirty expression and the feel of this warm hand on mine sent my heart racing and I tried to remember what my point was exactly. I look down at his hand on mine and said, “My point is that if you want to fit in around here, snubbing them isn’t a good start.”
He simply smiled at me and handed me a $5 bill. “I understand that Lex. Now while you’re in there would you mind grabbing me a Big Red and a Snickers?”
