Author Interview: Maggie O’Malley
Hi, Maggie. Thank you for allowing me to interview you. It’s quite an honor and we’re pleased to have you here on our blog.
Would you take a moment and introduce yourself to us?
Hi Lissette. Thanks for hosting me today. I’ve been married for 30 years to the same wonderful man. We have two kids in college, one yellow lab and eight formerly-stray cats.
How long have you been writing?
I started writing at the end of 2008. With my empty nest, I have plenty of time to write. I love writing about alpha werewolves and the women who tame them.
Tell us a little bit about your book.
Claiming their Cat is a werewolf ménage. Cat Watson managed to escape from the powerful drug lord Alvarez and right into the hands of the notorious killer—Rabid Rio. Rio promises to protect her and her baby if she becomes his mistress. With no money, what choice did she have? Then Rio’s brother, Creed, shows up and vows his protection too. Who knew being pleasured by two could feel so—right. Cat finally feels safe, that she belongs, only to discover they’ve betrayed her.
How did you come up with the idea for this story?
Like all my other books, I wake up and have the characters and first chapter in my head. Then I can’t write fast enough. I don’t even know who the bad guy is until I start the journey.
Was there a lot of research involved for it?
Nope. Just my crazy imagination.
What’s your favorite character from the book?
They are like my real children, and I can’t pick a favorite. Rio and Creed are both sexy alpha males, and Cat’s a mom on the run doing anything to protect her unborn child and that includes becoming a mistress.
Is this the only genre that you write under? Or have you experimented with others – such as short stories, mysteries, or even poetry?
So far, I’ve only written about werewolves. Love. Love. Love ‘em. Can’t get enough of ‘em.
What are you working on now?
I’m finishing Taming Raven under my Kitty DuCane name and then I’m starting a series of 7 brothers who are werewolf/vampire hybrids. I already have the characters from the first two books talking in my head.
Who is your favorite author and how has he/she inspired you to write?
Oh, that’s easy. Sarah McCarty’s my favorite with her Hells Eight series. I love the wit that she can portray on the page. And then there are Lora Leigh’s Breeds and Nauti Boys. Her heroes are just yummy.
How do you find inspiration when writing your stories?
These characters are talking to me. Even if I won the lottery tomorrow, I’d still write. It’s fun because it taps the creative side of my brain.
What’s your favorite book?
The Hell’s Eight series. Honestly, I’ve read all of them several times.
Do you have any recommendations for books that you think the blog’s readers may enjoy?
Sorry to sound like a broken record, but Hell’s Eight. These are set in the old west with harden alpha’s who have a protective streak. You can’t go wrong with Lora Leigh. I also enjoy Sherrilyn Kenyon’s League series.
Plotter or Panster?
Definitely a panster. I don’t know where the story’s going until the characters lead me there.
What’s your favorite past-time?
I’m going with the old cliché of writing. That’s my favorite thing to do, honestly. I also like to piddle in the yard and paint, but that’s when my brain is tired, and the characters are giving me a break.
Do you have any tips, or thoughts, that you would like to offer to the blog’s readers?
If you’re a writer, read what you love; write what you read.
So there you have it, everyone, a lovely interview with the author, Maggie O’Malley. We hope that you’ve enjoyed learning more about her.
Cat Watson managed to escape from the powerful drug lord Alvarez and right into the hands of the notorious killer—Rabid Rio. Rio promises to protect her and her baby if she becomes his mistress. With no money, what choice did she have?
Rio Wolff has found his mate, and she’s carrying another man’s child, not that it makes a difference to a werewolf. Cat’s running from the bastard, and only he can save her. It would help if she’d stop trying to run away every time he turns his back.
Creed Wolff gazes at the beauty standing in his kitchen and wonders why Rio has broken the rule never to bring a female home. She’s Creed’s mate so he can forgive his brother. Now he needs to replace Rio’s scent with his.
Cat can’t believe she lets both brothers pleasure her. Finally, she’s found a place where she feels safe, protected, and loved. But her world crashes when she finds out they have sold her to Alvarez.
