UNT coverEmily is an angel, one who’s been created to save, judge, defend and forgive a human for the lives they live and any indiscretions they may commit. Being an angel isn’t easy for her. Throughout the lives she’s lived, she’s come to know what it’s like to be human, something she has a hard time dealing with as time goes by. Yet she’s determined to learn about the race the Lord has created in hopes of helping him and his beloved children further understand what makes humans who, and what, they truly are.

Her soul mate, Matt, has been trained alongside her. He’s the one who will fight for everything they believe in, a warrior who’s heart belongs forever to Emily. His skills as warrior have been honed to the point where he’d do anything to protect the woman, (or angel, in this case), he loves. Yet he knows that, first and foremost, he must follow through on the orders his Heavenly father has bestowed upon him. While each life he and Emily live gets more difficult than the one before it, he knows their doing so will give the angels and the entire Heavens a better understanding of the emotions and the battles humans go through every day.

Thrust into a life she never expected to live, Emily finds herself questioning the world around her. She never imagined experiencing the difficulties she encounters every day. Nor did she ever imagine loving someone else other than Matt. The feelings Jason evokes in her rock the foundations of her beliefs to the very core. She feels torn deep inside and wonders if she can complete the tasks that have been set before her.

As understanding begins to slowly sink in, Emily realizes she may have gotten more than she bargained for. The confusion about her feelings and her actions within the new world she lives continue to split her soul into pieces, driving a wedge between her, Matt, and the people who now share her existence. Yet she does her best to keep her faith intact, even though it continues to crumble with every day that passes.

Torn between her duty and the turbulent emotions that try to engulf her with every step she takes, she soon realizes that Matt is her saving grace. With him by her side, she’ll be able to meet the adversity surrounding them head on, but only if she’ll allow herself to believe in the world around and the choices she now has to make. Only then can her faith in humanity and the Lord’s plans be restored.

As children, we’ve been taught to believe in God’s goodness and the fact that He has a higher and better plan for us. The bible speaks of angels and demons but in certain instances it doesn’t truly define what makes these beings who they are. We’re also given glimpses of the hierarchy of the angelic order as well as that of demons, but we never truly grasp their full significance.

While this book is just a story, the meaning behind Amy’s written words allow us a glimpse into what Heaven and Hell on Earth would be like. We’re able to feel the passion, the disappointments, the heartaches, and the triumphs the characters go through in order to assert themselves within the world they live in. A world Amy did a wonderful job in compiling. A world so vivid that the reader will find him/herself immersed within it completely.

Granted, this book is a work of fiction and it isn’t exactly a deeply religious story. Although there are elements within it that I think anyone from any religion can certainly relate to. We all have our faiths and we all believe in God, in one way or another. As the story states in some instances, we all need faith in order to achieve what we set out to do. Sometimes, we can lose that faith, yet it’s never truly far from us. We just have to see the bigger picture. We just have to believe and place our trust in the Lord’s hands. Somehow, some way, everything will eventually turn out to be just the way we want them to be.

I absolutely loved this book. There were parts of it that spoke to me in ways I never imagined. Amy’s writing is quite powerful and is able to stir a person’s emotions with every turn of the page. At least, I think so. She’s beautifully constructed her version of what Heaven, the angels, and what God would be like. The Angel Chronicles is, and definitely will be, a quite moving and thought-provoking series. I look forward to reading the next installment of the series once it becomes available.

Synopsis:

How does a girl choose between the one who steals her heart and the one who owns her soul?

Matt and Emily were created for a specific job. Raised and trained as the ultimate angel/warrior team, they are sent down to save, defend, judge and forgive, depending on the ‘life’ they’ve been assigned. What they don’t realize is that the power of human emotions, such as love, anger, passion and fear can take over even the best of souls, causing them to make mistakes and follow paths that lead to confusion and heartache.

When the reason for their training is finally revealed, the angel/warrior team find themselves thrust into a world they know nothing about. Matt takes over the life of Daniel, a young man with a great deal of baggage. Emily becomes Liz, a girl living in a remote village who relies on nothing more than her own strength to survive. A violent storm erupts one night, and framed in the window of Liz’s establishment is a frightening face. Let in by the soul of a Good Samaritan, the two visitors bring with them a past full of secrets that could literally change an angel’s path and a warrior’s plans.

From murder to redemption, this angel/warrior team must find a way to keep the faith they have in each other in a world that’s ripping them apart.

amy lignorAbout The Author:

I began to write at a young age when I truly believed that my sister was an evil queen and I was the slayer who would save the realm.:) Now that we are grown . . . I suppose she’s okay, and I have moved on to adventure fiction which I absolutely love.

Being the daughter of a Research Librarian, books and reading were always a ‘gift,’ and there is nothing I like more. In fact, if the NYPL would let me live in their basement, that’s where I would be. I am very proud of 13, being able to ‘link’ historical locales together in a puzzle that bestselling authors have called, “The DaVinci Code With Heart.” The Tallent & Lowery series is the ultimate adventure and I truly hope you all enjoy the ride! I review for many; I am the Owner of The Write Companion; and Editor-in-Chief of Precious Gems Pubishing, which was opened for debut novelists who were being overlooked.
